My theory on the origin of theatre is a mix between Else's Theory of Spontaneous Generation and Richard Schecner's Theory of Transformation. I am fascinated by the idea that human kind has the need to tell stories, and uses storytelling as a basic form of communication. Stories help people relate to each other and make them feel connected to something outside of themselves. It also creates a kind of common ground with people when they have similar experiences and can share those. I also like the idea that someone must go through something as form of transformation. Such as Oedipus transforming through tragedy, and two people transforming when they marry. This idea also ties in the audience and spectators, because in seeing, watching, listening, and experiencing the character's story, they too transform.
